OCTOBER is a month of celebration:
10/23/08 OPEN HOUSE :Please join us in kicking off our new school year. Meet
our staff and find out what’s new in 2008-2009.
10/20/08-10/24/08 Red Ribbon Week:
10/31/08 Fall Harvest Parade: In collaboration with Herrick Children’s
Center, students participate in our annual Fall Harvest Parade in
celebration of the bounties of our school garden.
NOVEMBER is a month of Thanksgiving.
11/25/08 Thanksgiving Feast
Using vegetables grown from our own school garden, students re-enact the
first Thanksgiving at our school-wide Thanksgiving Feast.
DECEMBER – come celebrate Holidays Around the World
12/18/08 1:00-2:00
Students perform skits and create projects from different areas of the world
to share how they celebrate this festive season.
FEBRUARY –
Random Acts of Kindness Week on 2/9/09-2/13/09 and Friendship Day on
2/13/09.
MARCH
3/20/08 OPEN HOUSE and our ANNUAL SCIENCE FAIR
Students share their standards-based science projects and create interactive
learning centers for our guests.
APRIL is our CAREER AWARENESS MONTH
Guest speakers throughout the county come and share about what skills and
experience are needed to be successful and productive in the career fields.
If you are interested in participating to be a guest speaker, please call
619-447-6776.
MAY is PHYSICAL FITNESS MONTH
Students participate in the Presidential Fitness Program.
JUNE
June 12 is our Annual Promotion and Awards Ceremony.

- Can Food Drive - items collected will be brought to a local shelter
or soup kitchen.
- Donation to the local Salvation Army/Clothes Closet/Women Shelter
- Student Class Fall decorating contest - students decorate their
classroom and the winning classroom receives a pizza party
- November 10 - Minimum Day
- November 11 - Holiday
- November 24-28 - No School for students
- November 24,25 - Staff Inservice
- Thanksgiving Feast for students
- Possible booking of drum/dance theatre to perform at campus
December
- Students volunteer time at the local Senior Citizen Home - do arts
and craft project with the residents
- Student Class Holiday decorating contest - students decorate their
classroom and the winning classroom receives a pizza party
- Can Food Drive - items collected will be donated to the local soup
kitchen
- Holiday lunch for students
